Easter Series- Its Friday

Ive seen this video so many times and it always gives me goosebumps and reminds me of the reality that the story is not over, it's only Friday.

There is something about the idea that the world felt they won on Friday, not knowing
what would happen next. People were heartbroken, they felt defeated, they felt alone and scared. They didn't know that Sunday was coming. They felt abandoned and they had no clue that Sunday was coming. Jesus was in pain, He was dying before everyone, they didn't know that Sunday was coming.

The world in general is kind of like a longer version of what Jesus did for us, right? We are living in Friday. The world is a very messed up place. Violence is everywhere, things are unjust, pain is at every corner. We are living in a world where days are hard and we often feel abandoned and alone. We are living in a world where people judge us, people condemn us and people hate.
But what do we need to remember? Sunday is coming.

All the cruelty, sadness, darkness of the world was put onto Jesus that day. He was beaten, mocked, abandoned, violated, tortured and belittled. He was torn down, harassed and embarrassed. Our Jesus was ridiculed, teased and murdered. Jesus endured all that so that you too would have your Sunday. He did it so that we could all have the hope that our Sunday is coming.

Good Friday is a day of sadness and mourning the death of Jesus. But Good Friday means so much more. Good Friday is the example God gives us for life. God is telling us in advance that Sunday is coming. It is always easier to survive Friday when you know that Sunday is coming.

Do not be overcome by the darkness of Friday, for the tomb you're in will open up and the light will appear. There will be light into your darkness. Today is merely Friday. Sunday is coming.

Jesus didn't rise for Himself, He rose for us. He rose so that we too can rise.
On days where you feel like this is definitely Friday, remember that Sunday is coming.
Jesus gave you Sunday.

  2. Beautiful, Cassidy! Every one of us has "Friday" some place in our lives. So very grateful Jesus secured that these must eventually give way to "Sunday."
